Professional Skills - Written and Oral Communication:
Presenting my Master's Project at a Regional Conference
Effectively use oral communication, written communication, research/assessment techniques, and
technology appropriate to educational practice.
Certainly my comprehensive project and presentation are the culmination of years of learning written and oral skills and yet, it won't have the same impact as presenting my research and intervention proposal to a professional audience 3 weeks before my master's defense.
Through connections I was able to meet a member of the Washington Student Achievement Council at a Financial Aid Train the Trainer workshop. Little did I know in April 2015 that I would be presenting with Sarah Weiss at the 2016 conference for the Pacific Northwest Association for College Admissions Counselors (PNACAC).
Truly it was the culmination and the beginning of opportunities cultivated and tended, careful yet joyful networking, and the learning of my new career's language. I can't take you to the conference to see it but I can show you the slide presentation for my session on, "Preparing New-Entry, Adult Students for Success in Higher Education".
